Bomgar Wins Decisively in Republican Primary

Madison, Miss. (August 4, 2015) – Today, residents in Madison County voted to elect Joel Bomgar as the next state representative for House District 58 to replace retiring Representative Rita Martinson. Bomgar prevailed in the Republican primary over contender Bruce Bartley. The district, which includes parts of Madison and Ridgeland, chose Bomgar as the Republican nominee by more than a 2:1 margin. Unofficial results show that Bomgar defeated Bartley with nearly 70% of the vote. Bomgar faces no Democratic opponent in November.

The local entrepreneur expressed gratitude and an eagerness to serve.  “I am so humbled by the outpouring of support from our community,” said Bomgar. “I have enjoyed getting to know so many Madison and Ridgeland neighbors during our campaign, and I look forward to representing them in the state legislature.”

I look forward to working with state and local leaders to ensure that Madison County continues to be a great place to live and work. Great schools, safe streets and economic opportunities will be my focus during my time in office. I will work to represent the strong conservative values that are so important to our community.”

Bomgar brings his track record of innovative business experience and community leadership to the state legislature. As Founder, CEO and now Chairman, he grew Bomgar Corporation to become one of Mississippi’s largest technology companies. He has created more than 100 jobs in Madison County and successfully built and led his company to serve 8,500 customers in 60 countries from their Madison County headquarters.

Bomgar has served on the board of Madison County Foundation and is a member of the Belhaven University Board of Trustees. The Mississippi House of Representatives and Mississippi Senate have commended Bomgar for creating jobs and economic success in Mississippi. The Madison County Economic Development Authority has honored him with the Visionary Leadership Award. He graduated from Belhaven University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and served six years in the Mississippi Air National Guard. Joel and his wife Rachel are the proud parents of four children: Amelia, Simon, Mark, and Seth.  They live in Madison and are members of Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
