How is Bit Key, my favorite Bitcoin storage device for the long haul, how is it so amazingly secure? I mean, unlike anything else as far as its elegance and how it works. Well, first of all, you have to understand insecurity. When hackers or scammers are trying to take your wealth, they are always trying to get access to accounts some way. And accounts are either protected by something you know, something you are, or something you have. Those are the three ways you can uh protect anything in the electronic world. Something you know is like a password or a passphrase or a seed phrase or something you are is like a fingerprint reader or an iris scanner or something like that. And something you have is something like the physical bit device or your phone or something like that. And what makes Bit Key so powerful and so transformational is because it transfers the the uh onus on almost entirely onto something you have. Now something you have is far more secure than something you know. And it’s very hard also to do things uh that involve something you are other than what we’ll talk about which is fingerprint readers. Hello. So uh so how does Bit Key do that? Well, first of all, let’s talk about all the other services. If you’re using Coinbase or River or anything else, their credentials are entirely based on something you know, which is your e your username, which is your email address, your email address, your password, and your two-factor authentication code. All three of those are things you know. The problem is anything you know can be known by someone else because you can be tricked into re revealing it or tricked into entering it on a fraudulent website or sweet talked into giving it to somebody who is pretending to be a tech support agent or a security you know whoever person or Coinbase or something like that which scammers pretend to be all the time. So the problem with with any sort of security uh for any other service again that includes River, Coinbase, Strike, you know, Cash App, all of them, it is it is because it’s based on something you know, a username, a password, and a two-factor authentication code. And again, things that are based on something you know are not as secure as things that are based on something you are or something you have. So why don’t all websites, mobile apps and everything base their security on something uh you are or something you have rather sorry let me start that part over so why don’t all mobile apps and websites base their security on something you are and something you have and the answer is because there’s no good way currently to use something you are as your authentication mechanism now the closest thing are services like uh Apple uh if you use uh Apple login or login with Apple or login with Google, you’re kind of using something you uh something you are because you’re using Face ID or Touch ID or something like that. The problem is all of those services have a backup because uh if you lose uh you know access to that, they don’t want you to lose access to the service entirely. So every service that has the ability to log in with your Apple ID or your Google ID has a backup mechanism that enables you to log in some other way. and whatever other way you can login in. Guess what? Hackers and scammers can log in the same way. Um, so it’s it’s it’s certainly better. Logging in with Apple and Google is much more secure than a username and password, but again, it’s just not perfect. It’s not completely, you know, hackerproof and scammer proof the way Bit Key is. And we’ll talk about again the architecture and why that is. Okay. So, um, but if you can log in with, you know, login with Apple, login with Google, that’s much better than a username and password. And if you can log in with a pass key, uh that is much better than a username and password also because a pass key is uh more of something you have. Now, it’s always stored somewhere. It’s either stored in, you know, a password manager or your Apple or Google account. So, it’s not perfect because again, you know, if somebody hacks your Google account or your Apple account, well, then they have that thing. Um, so it’s not really based on something you are and something you have, but it’s a lot better than a username and password. A username and password is the least secure. Uh more secure would be things like pass keys uh not passwords but pass keys and uh login with Apple or login with Google which effectively sort of works the same way. Okay. So what is the architecture of Bitkey? Uh my number one most favorite way to store Bitcoin for the long haul. What is the architecture that allows it to do those things? Well, first of all, in order to move large amounts of Bitcoin, you have to have the Bitkey device. The device is something you have and the uh and on that device is a fingerprint reader which is something you are. Now, you might be thinking, well, why doesn’t everyone do this? Well, most people and most websites don’t want, you know, you don’t want to buy a $200 or $250 device to secure your Google account. People are just not going to do that. But Bitcoin is unique in that if you have more than, let’s say, $10,000 of Bitcoin, it actually does make sense to spend $250 to secure it with Bitkey. So, Bitcoin is unique in that the value of what is being secured and the the nature of it as a target for hackers and scammers is actually high enough that it makes you it makes sense to buy a device to secure it. And that device then has a fingerprint reader on it and addition to it has to touch the back of your phone to move large amounts of Bitcoin around. Now, you can set it uh in the mobile app to move small amounts of Bitcoin without the device. So, let’s say you have $10,000 of Bitcoin and you regularly need to move $500 around. You can set it where your daily limit is $500, but in order to move more than $500, you have to have the device itself. That way, if somebody holds you up at gunpoint in a gas station and says, “Give me all your Bitcoin.” Your answer is, “I’ll give you all of it I can give you,” which is $500, but you’re not getting all $10,000 because I literally can’t because I don’t have my bit key with me. And if you know the best place to store your Bitkey uh is just somewhere that’s not on your physical person, like wherever you store your valuables. So, wherever you store your valuables, that’s where I would store your Bitcoin, uh your bit key, I should say. And uh if you have more than $50,000 of Bitcoin, I would recommend a safe deposit box at a bank. That way, even if somebody does hold you up at gunpoint and says, “Give me all your Bitcoin.” Well, now you have to go to a bank. And bad guys never want to go to banks because banks have security guards and little red buttons that call the police and there’s uh you know, security cameras and they just don’t want to deal with all that. If they did, they’d go rob banks, which they’re not going to do because they don’t want to do that. Um so all that to say um the architecture of Bitkey is brilliant because in order to move Bitcoin you have to have access to the physical device which requires a fingerprint reader as well as um as well as you know physically holding the device and a hacker or a scammer does not have your fingerprint and they do not have physical access in real life in person to the physical device and even if they broke into your house and stole it still has to be touched to the back of your phone which has to be unlocked with Face ID or Touch ID or whatever you use. So again, your phone is worthless to a hacker or a scammer. The Bit Key device is worth worthless to a hacker or a scammer because both of them are, you know, uh uh secured by biometrics. Now, even if a hacker or a scammer has your passcode on your phone, they still don’t have your fingerprint to get into your BitKey device. Now, um so it’s really a brilliant setup. And I I’ve wondered before why high-V value services like email or things like that don’t use the architecture of Bitkey. I mean BitKey is so brilliant like of of the of the things I’m most impressed with in the 21st century let’s say other than like Elon Musk rockets which are quite impressive and all that but really Bitcoin is the biggest breakthrough certainly the biggest monetary breakthrough in the 21st century. I mean the architecture of building Bitcoin is just unbelievably brilliant in every way. But in the world of finance, the second most impressive thing other than Bitcoin itself is Bitkey. Bitkey is literally that impressive in the way they architected it. So anyway, uh so the the question then is okay, if you have something that is based on something you are, which is a fingerprint, and something you have, which is a bit key device, then what happens if you lose that? Well, the architecture is built where if you lose your phone, the Bit Key device can put the the the key to your Bitcoin back on your back on a new phone, but you have to have the Bit Key device and it has to be unlocked with your fingerprint. So, obviously, a bad guy is not going to be able to do that. If you lose uh your Bit Key device itself, then uh you can use your existing phone. This is part two of what makes Bit Key so amazingly secure. So we talked about the fact that Bit Key is built on the fact that it is something you are which is your fingerprint and something you have which is the Bitkey device which is much more secure than passwords and two-factor authentication codes and much more secure than uh than seed phrases which other Bitcoin hardware wallets are based on. Uh so uh if a hacker wants to hack Bitkey, there’s really nothing they can do because they need to physically be touching your unlocked phone, which of course these hackers are in Romania or some other place. So they can’t physically touch your unlocked phone and they can’t physically touch your unlocked BitKey device. One of them requires Face ID or Touch ID. The other requires your fingerprint on the Bit Key device. So they just can’t get access to it. And I’ve gotten emails from every other service uh talking about hackers and scammers uh including um from uh Casa and Unchained and Ledger and Treasure and all of the other services have all sent out emails saying be on the lookout for hackers and scammers. They’re going to try to steal your your seed phrases, all of that. I haven’t gotten any emails from BitKey. The reason is they don’t have to send emails about watching out for hackers and scammers because there’s nothing for the hackers and scammers to steal. There is no seed phrase for them to sweet talk you into giving them or to trick you into entering into some mobile app or some website. There is no seed phrase. Uh there’s literally no seed phrase. Like that’s a huge benefit because a seed phrase is a massive uh potential security hole in other uh uh ways of storing Bitcoin. So you don’t have to worry about that. There’s no password. There’s no username. It’s all based on Bitcoin private keys which are stored in either your phone or the Bitkey device or in a secure backup uh that is only part of a key on the uh block servers. And that key alone doesn’t actually do anything because it can only work if it’s combined with a key that you have. It’s basically a backup key that only works if it’s combined with one of the two keys that you have, which is one on your phone and one on the Bit Key device. So even if they get hacked, it doesn’t matter because you still have to physically be holding an unlocked Bitkey device or your unlocked phone. And obviously if somebody’s holding your unlocked phone, then they can do anything with any of your bank accounts or financial institutions. Same if they have your unlocked computer at home, they can log into any website you have on your computer that’s all that stays logged in all the time. So anyway, that’s but that’s not how hacks and scams happen. And hacks and scams happen when hackers, you know, from Romania or some place log in over the internet. That’s how virtually 100% of any financial assets get stolen. It’s not because people are in person. It is because it’s over the internet. So anyway, Bit Key solves that. There’s no username, there’s no password, and there’s no seed phrase. So there’s literally nothing for the hackers and scammers to steal, which is absolutely completely brilliant that it’s architected that way. But of course the question is well if there’s nothing for them to steal then what if I lose it? The reason more more security is not based on who you are and what you have is what happens if you touch a you know you burn your fingerprint off. Well bit key lets you store more than one fingerprint including fingerprint from different people. So your spouse or significant other can have their fingerprint on your bit key as well if you want them to. And you can have more than one fingerprint of your own in case you like I don’t know chop your fingertip off in your lawn mower or something. Well, then you have more than one fingertip uh you know finger stored. Uh also there’s backup uh mechanisms. If you lose your bit key device, your phone can put the key back on your bit key device. If you lose your uh your phone, your bit key device can put your key back on your phone. And if you lose both of them, your phone and your bit key device simultaneously, there’s a really elegant recovery process that uses something called a recovery contact. And a recovery contact is a person that you have to set up in advance. So you need to do this as part of your bit key setup process. You set up a recovery contact that can authenticate that you are you in the event that you lose both your phone and your BitKey device. And if that happens, you get a new phone and a new Bit Key device and then you go through a recovery process which requires you to reach out to uh the person who has been saved in that capacity and they provide you from their own BitKey app. They do not need the BitKey device itself. They just need the mobile app. uh they give you a code from the BitKey mobile app on their phone that lets you unlock the key that is stored as a backup encrypted in your iCloud account. Now, all of this is just brilliantly set up where if hackers get access to your iCloud or your Google account doesn’t matter because the key that’s stored there has to be unlocked by either your phone or the Bit Key device or one of your recovery contacts. If they hack your recovery contact, again, it doesn’t matter because all they have is an unlock key for a key that they don’t have access to, which is the one in your iCloud. And if they hack your iCloud and your recovery contact’s iCloud account, also doesn’t matter because BitKey is going to send you numerous alerts telling you that somebody’s trying to recover your account and all you have to do is push one button to cancel that and secure your account. uh assuming you still have a Bitkey device or a or your phone or you know or your access to your email or your cell phone. So like it’s just completely impossible that a hacker or a scammer is going to get access to it because the architecture of it basically makes it impossible. Um of course nothing’s completely impossible but literally the reason BitKey is not warning their customers about uh hacks and scams and all that is because what are you going to do? like there there’s there’s no there’s no attack vector in BitKey for hackers and scammers. Every other cryptocurrency service has an attack vector. Exchanges have usernames and passwords and two-factor authentication codes that can be compromised. Uh Ledger and Treasure have seed phrases that can be, you know, hacked, stolen, compromised uh some way by hackers and scammers. Um, Casa and Unchained also have a combination of of uh seed phrases and not seed phrases. So, you can get close with a very complicated setup on Casa or Unchained. You can get close to the security of Bit Key, but you’re not going to get as good a security as Bit Key. You just can’t. Bitkey absolutely positively stands alone as the most secure way to store Bitcoin for the long haul and the most elegant way um to have recovery options in case you lose your phone or your Bit Key device or both of them simultaneously using one of the recovery contacts that it it tells you to configure. And it’s super simple. It’s super straightforward. It’s super easy to use. And they literally thought of everything. I have not heard of anyone that has lost Bitcoin using a Bitkey like they lost access to it. I’ve never heard of anyone ever losing access to Bitcoin that they had stored on Bitkey. I’ve also never heard of anyone who’s ever gotten hacked or scammed using a Bit Key. Now again, that you know, if a hacker or a scammer calls you and they sweet talk you into transferring all of your Bitcoin to them, you know, well, that’s on you. I mean, that’s like somebody calling you and getting you to wire all of the money out of your bank account from Wells Fargo on a wire transfer to them. But again, people don’t fall for those sort of scams. They don’t fall for scams that say, “Send me all your Bitcoin.” They fall for scams that say, “Hey, your account’s been compromised. I need you to enter your credentials on this website to secure it.” Well, again, bit Bit Key doesn’t have any of that. So, you just don’t have to worry about any of that. So, uh Bitkey is brilliant. If you are storing especially more than $10,000 of Bitcoin, I would absolutely positively use BitKey. Now, if it’s in a retirement account like Fidelity or Charles Schwab or something, you don’t have to worry about that. Um, you don’t have direct access to your Bitcoin in that case, which means hackers and scammers don’t either, which means you’re just trusting Fidelity or Charles Schwab or whatever, which is fine. So, if it’s in the form of a Bitcoin exchange traded fund, an ETF, uh, or even direct ownership on Fidelity or Charles Schwab, then I would not I would not worry about it. Uh, but again, you just don’t have the same access and flexibility that BitKey gives you. Um, so if you’re willing to give that up by letting them custody the Bitcoin for you, then you get the security of Charles Schwab and and Fidelity, but it also means your account can get frozen or locked out and there’s nothing you can do about it. With BitKey, you get all the benefits of complete and total access to your information uh or to your Bitcoin, I should say. Uh, you can do anything with it you want. Nobody can block you, nobody can censor you, nobody can shut your account down. There’s no account restrictions. It’s just brilliant. And it’s brilliant in a way that’s extremely safe and extremely recoverable if you accidentally, you know, fumble and do something wrong. Um, which BitKey makes it basically impossible to do anything wrong, which is the brilliance of it. So, I just love BitKey. It’s genius. It’s it’s brilliant. Uh, regardless of whether you’re buying Bitcoin on Coinbase or River or actually BitKey lets you buy Bitcoin within the user interface. So, if you buy a Bitkey, you can actually buy Bitcoin through Cash App with no fees and no spread. It’s literally the cheapest way you can possibly accumulate Bitcoin is buy a Bitkey and then buy Bitcoin within the Bitkey interface and you get the literally the cheapest Bitcoin you could possibly buy on the planet because you buy it at the actual market price with no extra fees and no extra spread built in which is the cheapest way to buy it. So huge fan of BitKey. It’s brilliant. It’s hackers and scammers worst nightmare. And literally if everything of value in the world was secured by something like BitKey, there would not be hackers and scammers in the world anymore. Like the entire hacking and scamming industry would go away if people would just use Bitkey to secure things of value. Now the only thing of value you can secure with Bitkey is Bitcoin, but at least it it would solve that 100% if everybody used Bitkey. So please use it. Highly recommended.
