  • HB 32: Last year, the Legislature passed a bill requiring that school district superintendents be appointed. I supported this measure as a way to improve education in  our state. Last year’s bill required appointment of superintendents beginning in 2019, during the next election cycle. This bill allow school board to appoint a new superintendent, in the event that their current superintendent retires or steps down prior to 2019. This is a common-sense change that applies the existing law to districts who might need to replace their superintendent prior to the effective date of last year’s law. I voted Yes, the measure passed 112-4.
