  • HB 1425: The House reconsidered a motion to table the motion to reconsider this bill, which would allow it to move forward. This bill imposes new supervision requirements on occupational licensing boards. Occupational licensing restrictions serve to diminish employment and suppress competition. This bill imposes new oversight measures from the Governor on the commissions. I voted Yes on the motion to table, the motion passed 63-56.

 

  • HB 920: The House considered a motion to table the motion to reconsider this bill, which expands sentencing options fo juvenile offenders. I voted Yes, the motion passed 68-47.

  • The House considered a number of appropriation bills that include Legislative Budget Recommendations for state spending. These bills currently all have “reverse repealers” in them, meaning that they will repeal before becoming law. This is used to guarantee that the House will have the opportunity to review a bill again before final passage. I voted Yes on these bills, they passed 104-10. The measures are listed below.

  • HB 1528: This bill appropriates additional taxpayer funds to the Department of Public Safety, above the previously approved budget. The state should reduce spending across all areas to protect taxpayers, and seek to use existing appropriations. I voted No, the bill passed 118-1.

 

  • HB 1529: This bill appropriates additional taxpayer funds to the Department of Finance and Administration to cover deficit spending. The state should reduce spending across all areas to protect taxpayers. I voted No, the bill passed 115-1.

 

  • HB 760:  This bill allows a county government to transfer taxpayer funds to a private entity. The proper role of the legislature is protect the property of citizens at all levels of government. I voted No, the measure passed 113-3.

 

  • HB 763: This bill allows a county government to transfer taxpayer funds to a private entity. The proper role of the legislature is protect the property of citizens at all levels of government. I voted No, the measure passed 114-2.

 

  • HB 1072: This bill allows a municipality in Holmes County to rename a historical area. I voted Yes, the measure passed 119-0.

 

  • HB 1415: This bill allows a county government to transfer taxpayer funds to a private entity. The proper role of the legislature is protect the property of citizens at all levels of government. I voted No, the measure passed 115-3.

 

  • HB 1461: This bill increases the compensation for port commissioners from $20/day at meetings to $100. This increase is funded by local taxpayers. I voted No, the measure passed 105-7.

 

  • HB 1462: This bill allows a county government to transfer taxpayer funds to a private entity. The proper role of the legislature is protect the property of citizens at all levels of government. I voted No, the measure passed 104-7.

 

  • HB 1463: This bill allows Lee County more freedom in where to locate a jail within the county. I voted Yes, the measure passed 115-4.
