House Welcomes Students from Madison County
This week I was thrilled to host two pages from Madison County. The Page program is a great learning opportunity for the students of our state. This week, we welcomed Olivia Johnson of Madison and Hudson Durfield of Ridgeland as the two pages from District 58. They did a fantastic job working with the House of Representatives and represented our district well!
The Mississippi House of Representatives spent more time this week in committee reviewing bills passed by the Senate. Our committees have until Tuesday to decide whether these bills will proceed to the full House. We passed a number of bills this week dealing with revenue, bonds, and rules governing municipalities. You can view each of these bills, along with my votes, here.
On Thursday, I was honored to speak with a group of ministers who gathered at the Capitol to advocate for criminal justice reform. As a Christian and a conservative, I believe that we should pursue justice and protect public safety while remembering that the people we deal with are created in the image of God. You can read more about Clergy for Prison Reform here. Next week we will continue to discuss and consider Senate bills. If you have questions or concerns about any pending legislation, please let me know! You can always reach me on my cell phone at (601) 573-4198. It’s an honor and a privilege to represent you.
